Large Wine Fridges

Large wine fridges are for buyers who've outgrown a small undercounter model, serious collectors building a cellar at home, and anyone who entertains regularly and wants a well-stocked fridge always ready. Holding between 41 and 199 bottles, these are substantial appliances — but they remain practical, energy-efficient, and perfectly suited to a kitchen, dining room, utility room, or dedicated wine space.

Who needs a large wine fridge?

If you open wine several times a week, buy by the case, collect across different regions or styles, or host guests regularly, a large wine fridge quickly becomes one of the most-used appliances in the house. Running costs are modest — most large models cost £30–£70 per year to run — so the ongoing expense is far less than the convenience benefit. They're also popular as a second fridge for people who have a smaller undercounter unit in the kitchen and want a higher-capacity storage unit elsewhere.

Freestanding vs undercounter in large capacity

Most large wine fridges are freestanding, since the capacity simply doesn't fit into a standard undercounter cabinet opening. A 60cm wide, full-height freestanding model can hold 80–120 bottles and stands like a tall fridge-freezer. Some 60cm undercounter models in this range push to 45–55 bottles at a standard worktop height. If you're planning a dedicated wine room or cellar, a full-height freestanding model is usually the right answer.

Single or dual zone at large capacity?

At this size, dual zone becomes more compelling. With 60+ bottles to fill, it's likely you'll have a mix of styles — and being able to keep reds and whites at their respective temperatures simultaneously without compromise is genuinely useful. Many of the best large wine fridges in this range are dual zone as standard.

What to look for

At large capacity, look carefully at the shelving system. You want adjustable wooden or chrome shelves that can accommodate different bottle sizes, a vibration-dampening compressor for long-term storage, and a UV-protected door. LED lighting is worth having for visibility without heat. All large wine fridges in this range include free UK mainland delivery.
