Slimline wine fridges are engineered to fit where a standard 60cm unit simply won't. At 15cm or 30cm wide, they slip into the narrow gaps that would otherwise go to waste — the end of a kitchen run, beside a washing machine, in an alcove, or under a breakfast bar. If you've always wanted a wine fridge but ruled it out for space reasons, a slimline model is almost certainly the answer.
What widths are available?
Slimline wine fridges typically come in two widths: 15cm (150mm) and 30cm (300mm). A 15cm model is extremely narrow — roughly the width of a standard letterbox — and holds around 7 bottles. A 30cm model is the more practical choice for most buyers, holding 18–24 bottles depending on the model, and fitting the kind of gap you might have beside a dishwasher or at the end of a worktop run. Both are built-in designs with front ventilation, meaning they can be installed flush into cabinetry without rear clearance.
Will a slimline wine fridge fit under my worktop?
Most slimline models are designed to fit under a standard 90cm worktop — but always check the exact cut-out dimensions before ordering cabinetry or ordering. The opening height required is typically 820–830mm, and depth is usually 570–580mm. Width cut-outs for 30cm models are generally 300–310mm. These figures vary slightly between brands, so check the spec sheet for the specific model you're considering.
Single zone or dual zone in slimline?
The majority of slimline wine fridges are single zone — there simply isn't enough internal space to effectively partition two temperature areas at 30cm wide. A few 30cm dual zone models exist, but they're rarer and pricier. If dual zone is important to you, a 60cm model will give you more options. If you mainly drink one style, single zone at 30cm is perfectly sufficient.
